Keep it Moving

Unfortunately, the ankle didn't hold up as expected during training, so I decided to postpone the return to racing and cancel my plans on going to Lutsen, Minnesota. After a few more days off I decided it was time to get back in race mode, so I headed to Sugar Bowl, near Lake Tahoe, for the next race series. The first day back was as I expected, a bit unconfident and shaky. Those ended up being quite the wrong things to have going into the slalom course, and I ended up straddling the 10th gate and going out of the course.

Right after that race, it began to snow and rain quite heavily. We went out the next day to have the race cancelled midway through. The surface began to punch out and the jury decided it would be too dangerous to continue the race. Again, the following day was marked with more weather, and another cancellation due to the bad surface on the race hill. After discussing with my teammates, we decided to head home as there was no point staying on to only have more and more races cancelled.

Disappointed with the series, I was excited to get back into training the following week. The weather was good in Utah and made for some great training, and probably my best skiing all season. It's unfortunate that the season is coming to an end, as I feel like I have a lot more to leave out there on the hill. The last shot is this upcoming weekend in Mission Ridge, Washington. I'll be there for one slalom and two giant slalom races; hopefully I can put a few runs together and get some good results to take forward with me into next season. I'll let you know how it goes!

I'll leave you with a photo from training earlier this week. The views looking out onto Little Cottonwood Canyon never get old.
